Vote Every Day

Have you voted today?

Chances are about 1 in 700 that there is no election going on today, but again I ask, have you voted today?

If no, why not? Are you not even aware that you can vote today?

How can you vote without an election? What is voting anyway? Voting is giving your opinion on a certain topic. How sad it is that the elite of the country have proscribed the times, topics, and options that we are allowed to have opinions on. How enabling it is for them, if their constituents limit their influence to one time every years, and they are free to carry on how they please the rest of the time.  If we agree to limit our voting, or expressing our opinion, to once every two years, we are also agreeing that are leaders are unaccountable the rest of the time.

So how can we vote today?

  • vote in an election
  • attend a caucus meeting
  • blog about a political topic
  • "like" or "share" someone else's blog post
  • tell someone your opinion about politics
  • tell someone it is OK to discuss politics and religion
  • give money to someone you agree with
  • volunteer to help someone you agree with
  • attend a legislative committee meeting and speak your opinion
  • send a email with your opinion to your representative
  • send a text message, or letter, or make a phone call, to your representative
  • post your opinion on facebook or twitter or other social site
  • comment on someone's blog or social posting
  • distribute flyers or leaflets
  • help gather signatures
  • practice what you preach and set an example
  • put on a bumber sticker
  • wear a sticker or button (or ribbon)
  • sell buttons or pass out stickers
  • attend a demonstration
  • sponsor a speaker (it could be for a small group of friends)
  • start or join a book club
  • write an essay
  • teach a class
  • vote with your feet; associate with those you agree with
  • vote with your money
  • buy from a company which does what you want it to (even if it costs a little more)
  • write a letter to the editor
  • call in to a radio show
  • put a sign in your yard for a candidate
  • put a sign in your yard when it is not campaign season (e.g. there's a war going on; are you for or against it?)
